Robert Friedland
Founder & CEO, Proton OnSite
Robert J. Friedland is President and CEO of Proton OnSite, which changed its name from Proton Energy Systems in 2011.
Mr. Friedland, a founder of Proton Energy Systems in 1996, has held several senior positions at Proton including President and Chief Operating Officer, Senior Vice President Hydrogen Generation and Senior Vice President of Products and Manufacturing. He became President and CEO in July of 2008 upon the sale of the business to a private investment group.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Friedland was with the Hamilton Sunstrand Division of United Technologies. At Hamilton, Mr. Friedland held various positions of increasing responsibility including Program Operations Manager of Navy and Electrochemical Systems.
Mr. Friedland earned a BS degree in chemical engineering from Syracuse University and an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is a Director of the Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Energy Association, the Connecticut Technology Council and the Connecticut Business and Industry Association and a member of the Executive Steering Committee for H2USA.
He has delivered numerous papers and presentations on current and future uses of hydrogen.
