CEO, Kent Displays
Dr. Albert M. Green is the CEO of Kent Displays, Inc. and serves on its Board of Directors. He has held these positions since joining the company in June 2007.
Dr. Green has a long history of corporate leadership and innovation in the technical disciplines of advanced materials and display technologies. As Kent Displays CEO, he has used his unique skill set to drive development and commercialization of the company’s Reflex® No Power LCDs for several high growth applications including eWriters for the consumer packaged goods market and eWriter displays for OEM applications. Since coming to Kent Displays in 2007, Dr. Green has guided the company’s transition from a focus on research and development to product development and manufacturing. Under his leadership, Kent Displays successfully launched the award-winning Boogie Board® LCD eWriter in 2010. The tablet’s writing surface is a flexible Reflex® LCD manufactured on the world’s only roll-to-roll LCD production line, which began operation in 2008 at the company’s headquarters in Kent, Ohio. This very successful consumer product quintupled annual company revenue and significantly increased employment since its launch. The product line has won numerous national and international awards including the Flexi Award (most Innovative Display Product), Computer Times Editor’s Choice Award (twice), the NorTech Innovation Award and the Accessible Design Award (Japan).
In recognition of Dr. Green’s visionary work as Kent Displays CEO, he received the Innovation in Business award from Smart Business magazine in 2011. This annual award is given to business leaders who have demonstrated a history of innovative ideas throughout their careers or have developed cutting-edge processes or products. He was also named to Crain’s Cleveland Business Who’s Who list of 150 names to know in Northeast Ohio in 2011, 2012, and 2014.
In addition to leading Kent Displays, Dr. Green has provided his international trade and manufacturing expertise to the U.S government in several capacities: as an advisor to President Barrack Obama’s Export Council; as a business delegation member for the 2011 U.S. Commerce Trade Mission to India led by Secretary Gary Locke; as a member of the U.S. Department of Commerce Manufacturing Council, a private sector committee that directly advises the U.S. Secretary of Commerce and chair of the subcommittee on Manufacturing Innovation; as a participant in the export session of President Obama’s Winning the Future Small Business Forum in 2011; and as a frequent contributor at U.S. Commerce Department functions and other government-sponsored events.
Dr. Green’s participation in local business initiatives and community activities includes serving on the NorTech Board of Directors as well as chair of the FlexMatters℠ steering committee. The FlexMatters initiative was launched by NorTech, a non-profit organization geared toward driving economic development through technology in Northeast Ohio, to recognize the flexible electronics cluster in the region and to accelerate its growth. He is also helping to develop the technical innovators of tomorrow as an adjunct professor of Chemical Physics at Kent State University. Dr. Green serves on the College of Notre Dame Board of Directors. Dr. Green also is a member of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland Business Advisory Council where he provides valuable observations and insights into regional business, economic and credit conditions.
Prior to joining Kent Displays, Dr. Green was Vice President and Division Manager at Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) where he worked closely with Kent Displays in jointly developing Reflex technology.
Dr. Green holds over 25 patents in the areas of photonic systems, displays, and advanced materials. He holds a BS in Physics from The University of Chicago and a PhD in Physics from Stanford University. He also attended the Executive Training Summer School at MIT’s Sloan School of Business Administration.
