Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary, Snap-on
Mr. Shur is vice president, general counsel and secretary for Snap-on Incorporated (NYSE: SNA), a $3.3 billion, S&P 500 company. Snap-on is a leading global innovator, manufacturer and marketer of tools, equipment, diagnostics, repair information and systems solutions for professional users performing critical tasks. Products and services include hand and power tools, tool storage, diagnostics software, information and management systems, shop equipment and other solutions for vehicle dealerships and repair centers, as well as for customers in industries, including aviation and aerospace, agriculture, construction, government and military, mining, natural resources, power generation and technical education. Snap-on also derives income from various financing programs to facilitate the sales of its products. The company has over 24 manufacturing locations in the United States, South America, Europe and Asia, as well as research and development facilities in the United States, Europe and Asia.
Mr. Shur has responsibility for Snap-on’s legal affairs worldwide, as well as government affairs and compliance. He also serves as secretary to the Board of Directors. Mr. Shur joined Snap-on in 2008 from Enodis plc, a publicly held manufacturer of food service equipment, where he was vice president and general counsel. Prior to Enodis, he was vice president and division general counsel for Invensys Industrial Components and Systems, and earlier served as associate general counsel for a joint venture between General Electric and Fanuc Ltd. of Japan. Prior to his time with GE, he was a litigator in private practice. Mr. Shur has extensive experience in international business matters, and has spoken several times at American Bar Association functions on trans-Atlantic legal issues. He holds a Juris Doctor and a Bachelor’s degree in economics and psychology from the University of Virginia.
