What We Do:
ITA's DAS/MFG unit is the U.S. government's leading advocate and ombudsman for advancing the competitive position of U.S manufacturing industries in the global market. MFG industry teams generate leading-edge industry and market intelligence (including trade data), provide critical advice on international trade and investment policies affecting the competiveness of U.S. manufacturers in the global market, and conduct in-depth, sector specific research and analysis to expand business opportunities for U.S. manufacturers in international markets.
Partnership with U.S. industry is a key to delivering results. MFG Offices collaborate with U.S. industry to help manufacturers identify and capitalize on global business opportunities. In close working relationship with U.S. companies, industry associations, and other manufacturing stakeholders, MFG develops strategies, policies, and programs to position U.S. manufacturers at the forefront of international competitiveness.
Who We Are:
Office of Energy & Environmental Industries (OEEI): OEEI covers both goods and services associated with the following sectors: fossil energy (oil, gas and coal), civil nuclear energy, renewable energy (biofuel, biomass, geothermal, hydro, solar, wind), smart grid (electricity transmission, distribution, and storage), energy efficiency, as well as environmental technologies related to pollution prevention, air pollution control, water and wastewater treatment, remediation, waste and recycling.
Office of Transportation and Machinery (OTM): OTM covers automotive vehicles and parts; aerospace equipment including large civil aircraft, regional jets, rotorcraft, commercial space, general aviation, engines and power plants, unmanned aerial systems, maintenance, repair and overhaul, and airport infrastructure/aviation security; and industrial machinery including construction and mining equipment, metalworking equipment and machine tools, printing, publishing and converting technologies, plastics, rubber and chemical production equipment, agribusiness equipment, and food processing and packaging machinery.
Office of Health and Information Technologies (OHIT): The Office of Health and Information Technologies (OHIT) provides expertise in the health technologies industries and Information Technologies (IT) industries. Under the Health Technologies Team, we cover surgical appliances and supplies, surgical and medical instruments, electro-medical equipment, in-vitro diagnostic substances, irradiation apparatus, ophthalmic goods, generic pharmaceuticals, biopharmaceutical, biologics (both biologics and biosimilars), electronic health records, health information networks, health information management/exchange, and mobile health (often referred to as mHealth). Under the Information Technologies (IT) Team, we cover microprocessors, DRAMs, flash memory, multi-chip packages, semiconductor manufacturing and test equipment, supercomputers, servers, desktop PCs, laptops, tablets, IT peripheral equipment, telecommunications network equipment, IP-based switches, routers, advanced fiber optics, wireless network equipment, and other mobile technologies and devices.
