MDCP NAM Updated Return Analysis
NAM Analysis of Return on Taxpayer Investment Updated to End of FY 2017 MDCP Results
There are numerous examples of praise for MDCP from organizations that have received awards (coperators) or from companies that such cooperators have helped to succeed in international markets. Some selected examples of success removing trade barriers, mounting trade-development activites abroad, or generating specific exports are available on this site. Yet even organizations that, because of their structure or governance will never apply for MDCP funding recognize the value of the program. Three of these are highlighted below.
"The MDCP program has been a real success, even though it is starved for funds. [F]or every federal dollar invested, $347 in exports has been generated. Since 1997, this program has generated $12 billion in U.S. exports, with an outlay of $40 million or less over that time period. [E]xports generated additional tax revenue to the U.S. government amounting [of] almost $456 million – not a bad return on the taxpayer’s investment – especially since this is seed money for what become self-sustaining promotion centers." |
