Temp Solution for Perms
Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) helped a member company sell this temporary beauty shop in Japan. It replaces a beauty shop that was destroyed in the 2011 tsunami. Selling temporary shelters in Japan is a small part of a bigger project to help U.S. RV-makers to sell products in China especially, but also in Japan and Korea. photo: RVIA
Temporary Structures Are Part of a Larger Effort on RVs
The temporary beauty shop shown above was a welcome addition to the Japanese town that lost its beauty shop in the tsunami. There are several other examples in Japan and RVIA member companies have been happy to be part of the post-disater relief solution. But the larger potential impact for the industry economically will be Chinese consumers' embrace of RVs
As part of its 2012 MDCP award project, RVIA hired a full-time representative who lives and works in East Asia. RVIA's new presence in the region allows it to help its members secure contracts in Japan and South Korea, but China is by far the biggest potential market. Before the market in China for RVs can take off, China must approve standards and revise regulations that if not addressed, could make it difficult for potential RV consumers in China.
To that end RVIA was able in 2012 to sign a memorandum of understanding between RVIA and the China Automotive Technology and Resource Center to work together on RV standards issues. Read more about this MOU on ITA's Tradeology blog.
After receiving an MDCP award in 2012, RVIA received another award in 2015.
